LED's

I just got off of the Superbriteled.com web site. They have the 420 nm LED bulbs for 1.40 range. I am thinking of replacing the ones in my hood with some. Any body want to jump in on this. Oh yeah, has anyone got experience in how to wire these. I am hoping to just re-solder what I already have. My main concern is the transformer. What about the degree of lighting at 15% is that typical?

As far as wiring LED bulbs I used speaker wire and a resistor for each bulb. When you solder them try to do it fast. It doesn't take much heat to burn out a LED when soldering.

I bought a kit from someone in Huntsville, Alabama. I think he maybe still sells them. It came with like 10 LED, 10 resistors, and the ac adapter. The LEDs are 4000mcd and 470nm. I only needed the speaker wire to wire them up. He sold it to me for $14 shipped. If you want to contact him I believe I have his contact info still which I can send via pm.

15 degree beam pattern is tight and considered a "spot" light. its pattern will be very condensed. you would need many spread out to give coverage. i use led's as supplemental lighting installed in custom track lighting under my canopy and in lunar lighting. i use both 20 degree and 110 degree patterns.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking. I have sent them an e-mail asking about larger degrees but have not heard from them. Their sight only shows this 15 degree right now. I am probably going to go to 8 lights instead of 4 and try that. I have the notorious Berlin wall rock formation right now in the 55 and so everything might get highlighted with eight.
