Leemar 240 gallon question

So I just ordered my Leemar 237 gallon 96 x 26 x 22, euro braced, and I have a question for you guys? I originally got a quote for $4300 for just the tank alone, that was with 5/8 in glass. I thought was way too expensive. So I got a quote from another guy for that same price for the tank and stand, but it's 1/2 inch glass. Do you guys think 1/2 inch glass is enough for a 240 gallon? It is a big price difference but I do not want to risk it if I shouldn't. Anyone have issues with large tanks and only 1/2 inch glass. I would think companies wouldn't make it if there was going to be an issue but what do I know

I have had tanks up to 36" tall with 1/2" glass. Just make sure it is euro-braced both top and bottom, especially along the 96" side.

I think you're getting hosed. Call Concept Aquariums in Calgary, Alberta and tell them what you need. They ship all over Canada, I can't see how south of the border should matter much. I bought my tank, similar dimensions to yours for MUCH cheaper than that. You can see my tank here.

Here is their contact info, they just moved to a bigger shop and are reworking their website:

I paid ~$1700 for my tank (1/2" with front and left side starphire glass) and both sumps. No stand.

You're paying a lot. BUT, if that's what's local and what you're comfortable go for it! Don't let us tell you how to spend your cash :) I buy lots of things that I could find a cheaper but would rather buy local.

I recently bought and installed a Marineland 265. Seven feet long and 30 inches tall. Uses 12 mm (essentially 1/2) inch glass on all sides and 19 mm glass on the bottom. They have been selling this tank for years.
