i just bought a lemon tree coral and its so hard to find a spot for it in my tank.
liveaquaria says that it likes medium to strong flow but i got to disagree.
i feel that it may likes exactly mediumlight flow.

anyone else has a lemon tree coral?
any suggestions like where you put it and at what flow.

How long have you left it in one spot without disturbing it? Kinda hard to tell what it likes without giving it a good amount of time in one spot. I used to have a hard time with hammer corals because I was always fiddling with it.

"Lemon tree," I guessing a lemnalia?

im not really sure but i did recently get it. so ur right i should leave it in one place for a while.
im not sure what a lemnalia is but it is a Stereonepthya sp.

I got a frag from Live Aquaria. Actually, I got two frags. The first came unattached to the plug. This one kept blowing around my tank and I eventually lost it. Live aquaria sent me another and this too came unattached. I was able to reattach it to a plug an have it placed in my tank, about 10 inches from the top of the water line and it gets a good amount of flow. I have T5 lights about 5 - 6 inches from water surface. It seems to like its current position. However, the polyps don't seem to ever extend even though the body of the coral extends. I also have a Purple tree coral from live aquaria and it extends without its polyps as well. The first lemon tree I had extended its polyps but was always dislodged from where I placed it and would blow around the tank.

Ilikewater - do you have pictures of your Lemon Tree and Purple Tree? I'm curious how similar the actual specimen is to the pictures they show on the web site. They look super nice on the site, so I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it to place an order.

Thanks!

I will try to get a picture up. The corals look similar to the pictures on the site, however, the polyps on mine are not opening. I don't know if i have to encourage this with feeding the right food or if with different lighting/water flow. The frags look like they are fully extending though.

Here is a picture of my yellow lemnalia, taken in early December. Ive got it about 2/3 down in my 75g, in a medium indirect flow area, under 175w metal halides. It looks very similar to the one in the garf link above.

It was relatively new in this picture and hadnt reoriented to the light so its not standing as tall as the one in garf's picture.
