lemon yellow haddoni

picked up this lemon yellow haddoni tonight. i'm curious to see if it holds this color. i think it will end up turning green in 6 months to a year down the road. it looks pretty awesome right now though! i hope i'm wrong and it keeps this color :) so far it seems healthy. hoping and praying that it stays like that...

thoughts? think it's a bleached green, or are there actually yellow haddoni?

my main question would be... has anyone seen a haddoni this color naturally? i have not. that's why i am wondering if it's a bleached green.

i looked at it outside in actual sunlight and it was lemon yellow with a very slight green hint to it. very much like the white light pic i posted.

a pic from this morning. looks like it's settling in nicely :)

now, i need to get a bigger tank to have more room for my nems. lol

Very nice find. There were two at my local Petco yesterday and both looked bad. Besides I don't have a large enough tank to keep one.

So how many clowns do you have in your tank?

yah, i have a tank just for my carpets. they are fish eaters! i started with 12 clowns, and was down to 8 within a month. it's been almost 6 months now, and still have the 8 clowns. that must be that magic number for my tank.

That's awesome to have that many in a tank where they get along.

The nem looks really nice. I recently ordered a gigantea and was accidentally sent a haddoni. It's dark green with a lighter green center -- I had hoped it would be neon green (I know -- I don't want to sound greedy for a free nem!). My favorite haddoni are the neon green ones!

And to answer your question -- I haven't heard of any haddoni holding its yellow color. Like gigantea, they typically morph into a green instead of remaining yellow. My bleached green gig definitely looks yellow under natural sunlight, but under LEDs I can see the green coming back.

The closest I've seen to a yellow haddoni is when Global Reef Supply showed off their "lemon yellow" haddoni and gigantea.

I suspect these eventually turned green though, as the photos look extremely Photoshopped.

d-nak, good info. thanks for sharing.

i'll update the pics as time goes on. hopefully it continues to do well.

Will these things take out healthy fish? I have a 6" green haddoni coming from Ibluewater and am a little nervous. Bob assured me that if your fish are healthy and not bottom types, they should be ok.

"should" is the operative word there. yes, they can and often do take out healthy fish. that is why i don't have them in my reef tank. i have a separate tank just for my carpets.

will they automatically take out every fish in the tank? no... is there a possibility that they will eat fish occasionally? yes...

if i am thinking about adding something new, i try to get on the forums and ask experienced keepers of that animal. i don't just rely on info obtained from someone trying to sell it to me. i learned that one early on. lol

Yes, they will take out fish, all fish are at risk not just bottom types. Its a risk you have to be willing to take if you keep carpet type anemones.

There's one of LA DD right now. Only $179 :wavehand:
