Lemondrop flame anemone

Just got my new lemon drop flame anemone and wanted to share pictures:

I put it on top of the island along with the other anemones, but of course it decided to migrate to the bottom.

Closeup. Pure yellow tentacles fade to emerald green.

Clown hosting already.

Thanks! Yes these are all just color morphs of BTAs. (Although sometimes I wonder about my original flame. It has funny tentacles that are crooked and not typically bubble tipped.)

In that last shot I posted you can see the regular rose ones and then also a purple/green tipped one to the right of my first flame BTA. They don't fight each other and are all sitting on a single liverock island in the middle of my tank. Here's a full tank shot from a few months ago:

Generally they have been well behaved and sit on that island in the middle. Once or twice I find that one gets adventurous and tries to wander off so I grab him and put him back on the island.

@Psionic: Unfortunately my flames haven't split!

Are these all just color morphs of BTAs? They're beautiful.

Yes. It's a tactic of the retail aquarium trade. Add cool-sounding adjectives to the name of a critter and charge $100 per adjective.

For a while these color morphs came in from Vietnam, though now it is anyone's guess.

I'm running 3 x 250W Reeflux 20K halides in Lumen Bright reflectors, powered by 250W Coralife dimmable e-ballasts.

I also run 3 strips of actinic power brites and 2 4' actinic T5s.

I'll try to take a photo with just the actinics on. The anemones pop like they're under a blacklight.

Jason,

can you post alot of pics under various lighting? i just want to admire it as i dont have it and i know i might never have it. happy for you man, i was late getting it. I would have gotten both of them but ............ oh well.....

Sure! I love taking photos, so more than happy to share.

I've noticed that some corals are very sensitive to being stung by the BTAs and some are not. For example, some acans and palys (nuclear greens) seem to handle frequent brushing by the BTAs just fine. I also have an ugly blue polyp monti that was constantly being touched by the green anemone and it didn't seem to burn either.

A red micromussa that I have, however, gets burned badly along with most other corals. That's why I have all the anemones on a central pillar/island in the middle of the tank.

Whenever I add a new anemone or if I shift the rock or lighting, there's a chance that the anemones move around. Once they settle in though, they seem to stay put.

A few more of the lemondrop, by request:

The anemone is huge. The biggest one in my tank. When it's really expanded, the colors do pale a bit as the color isn't as concentrated into as tight a space.

Despite the expansion, you can still see the green tints in the base.

Here's a top down shot of my anemone island. You can see the roses, flame, lemondrop and green/purple.

I took some actinic shots last night but haven't uploaded them yet. I'll post those later.
