i just got mine a few days ago and ever since, he has been hiding in the back of the tank, he'll come out now and then but he won't eat anything. i've had brine shrimps along with mysis float right by him. should i start to worry? also, how safe are these guys with corals, i have some zoo's in the tank. i've been told they're 50/50 as far as reef safe, but more feedback would be great.

have you check your water parameters? what are they? how did you acclamate the fish? it could be hes just still getting accustom to the tank but, he should have ate something after being in there for two days. have you seen him nipping at the rocks or glass? he may be feeding from them. what other fish are in the tank? are there any fish bullying him?

lemonpeels are one of the more aggressive dwarf angels. doesnt mean they are all bad. dwarf angels are all about 50/50 on nipping at corals. my Coral Beauty will nip at my LPS corals. but he doesnt do much damage. i have seen him nip at my zoos once or twice as well. but hes still in the tank. i figure thats the way nature is. and it all grows back. but first you need to make sure yours is healthy.

I too have a Coral Beauty as well. So far he has not touch my corals (I have had corals only for a month). As paintbug said, it is hit or miss.

As for feeding. Have you tried-Nori, Seaweed Sheets, etc.? He might not like meety foods.

I have a lemonpeel and it took about one week for him to feel comfortable in the tank and start eating. It took 3 or 4 days before he would even leave the aquascaping.

my water parameters are fine, i had a high nitrate problem but it's going away quick. the other aggresor in the tank is a 1.5 inch hippo tang and a two inch long niger trigger but they all swim together sometimes but besides that, he's still behind the rocks.

his stomach doesn't look flat and i do feed the tank, flakes, mysis, brine, and always a sheet of nori clipped on the glass. with all of this said, i don't know whethere he has been eating or not, but he doesn't look starved to me at all.

Was he eating at the LFS? Unfortunately angels are known for starving themselves to death. If he was eating at the store, he may just be adjusting to your tank and start eating soon. Meanwhile, you could try soaking food in garlic, leaving nori in the tank on a clip during the day, and feeding tasty treats like mysis.

Think of fish as a shy kid in a new kidnergarden class. Expect them to be very shy and worried for atleast a few days. They will not know if there are bigger kids to bully them (aggressive fish), or even kill them.

Within time, they will come out to meet their tankmates and as long as you did a good job matching them with good neighbors, all will be fine.

today's the third day or maybe the fourth, i've lost track of time...been sitting in front of the fish tank for way too long, haha. well, he's still back there. he's pooping so it means he's eating something, not sure what though. he was eating at the lfs. i'd always make sure of this before buying fishes.

the niger is the most aggressive fish in my tank but he doesn't even bother the firefish, they all get a long well, so i guess only time can tell.

thanks for the feedback though!!!!
