Are these reef safe and coral safe, i've read varying reports?

IMO/E they are in the top 2 of NOT being reef safe (( along with a Bi-Color )), while I think they are great looking fish, I would never put one in a reef tank again.

Agree with Todd. Definitly not a good choice if you have a reef. Even the "false lemonpeel" is a risk.

I had one for about six months before I lost it in a tank crash. I loved her (favorite fish) but she was definitely not reef safe. She constantly nipped my feather duster and coral (at the time I just had candy canes, xenia, and something else...can't remember).

It's really too bad, they're beautiful . I wish there was a similar fish that's reef safe!

Listed at the very top of misbehaving Centropyge for a Reef. Too bad, and you actually need a Reef (or at least very productive LR) to keep one. Life just ain't fair!
They are also somewhat fragile in acclimation, and they are pretty aggressive for a Centropyge angel also..

From what I've been reading online about them is that they mostly would go after LPS, zoas, and clams but do they ever bother SPS corals?

Anyone with a lemonpeel in their SPS tank.

yes, very naughty in a reef tank...

I have had a lemonpeel for around 5 years snow. No issue with sps, just some retracted pe, which never seems to stunt the growth of the sps. I have not had a clam in the tank.

I had one as well up until last week and he never picked at anything. He tired to pick at some zoas once but that's the only time he did that.

Did both of you aquire juvenile specimans?

I think I'm going to give it a shot, my wife loves them and I am lacking a yellow fish in my tank. I suppose I could always trap and remove it should it become a major problem.

I had a juvenile (still had its blue spot) in a tank with only SPS corals. Sure enough it picked at the SPS and I had no polyp extension on any of the corals.
