lemonpeel anglefish opinions

I am considering buying a lemonpeel anglefish. I have no other anglefish and am looking to add one. I do not have many corals, just some softies, and a frogspawn. I know that anglefish has a tendency to pick at corals but will roll the dice considering the lack or corals I do have. What are your experiences, concerns or opinions with this fish.

Love em, add an amazing pop of color to the tank, but like Todd said, no guarantee for your corals, and Lemonpeels are very pugnacious little fish, might be the most aggressive dwarf angel there is.

I have a lemon peel hybrid. I love it. In my reef tank I also have clowns, a six-line, a pseudocromis so the lemon peel fits right in. I haven't noticed mine going after any of my corals, so I guess I got lucky.

with angels its pretty much a crap shoot. you may get one that loves coral you may get one that goes nowhere near it. ime they tend to prefer sps to lps and softies so you may have something going for you there. i would just add it and if you see it nip at some corals just trade it in.

Its a chance. I chanced it with adding a Flame Angel to My Reef and he's been on great behavior for the last Month or so. No coral has been touched that's not to say he will get a taste of something soft but worht a shot

Some things to consider before your purchase:
1) They are not hardy fish, often dying with no reason after a couple of weeks, probably due to improper collecting.
2) The riskiest of ALL Centropyge in a Reef Tank. They love LPS, Xenia, Zoa's, clams etc.
3) VERY territorial. An aggressive dwarf angel.
This is not a beginer's fish.
Better choices to exist. Such as Flames (still mean though, and quality of individual fish varies), Coral beauties, Cherubs and Flamebacks.
It helps if your tank has a bit of a nuisance Hair Algae problem, all Centropyge love grazing.

Sincerely,
Matthew

Its a shame too, really. They are such beautiful fish. All the prettiest angels seem to be the more aggressive fish.

Thank you all for your replys. Looks like I am going to pass on the very beautiful fish. Maybe one day in a fish only tank. Thanks again

I was considering a lemonpeel but after I saw one in the tank at the LFS, I reconsidered. This guy was constantly nipping at other fish. As said above, I think they are mean!
