I have a Canon and just want to
take nice, good quality, macro pics
of my tank. I have a tele-macro
70-300 quantaray, but im afraid
it wont completely do the trick.
Thanks

I would rather have the Quantaray and agree the 75-300 is a piece of ****.

Check out this one, it's affordable but still amazing. The f/4 will preform flawlessly if it's bright enough...and it still does a whole lot better in low light than the Quantaray 70-300 or the Canon 75-300.:

I have this one which does much better with crappy light. :

Well looks like a got a few years of working till i can really get into macro pics. Im just 15 workin at wendy's. Haha. well thanks for your time. I was expecting something much cheaper, since you are indeed a bum. Haha

Thanks again. it helped

It is funny you say that because right now I really am a bum (I got laid off @ NASA recently). I may end up at Wendy's myself. I've been looking everywhere for work. Right now I'm just an unemployed college kid (studying biology). I have given up at skilled labor. Everyone says "I would love to higher you but can't afford to pay you". Tomorrow I start looking for general jobs...cashier at Publix...gas stations...hell I'll take anything at this point. :/

The two links above are NOT macro lenses. They would be Quantary replacements...the Quantaray isn't a macro lens either. If you want macros you need the 100mm f/2.8.

1. It's still possible to get decent pictures from a cheap lens.
2. It's impossible to determine a lenses sharpness from a 400 pixel image.

;)

The biggest problem with Quantaray is that they aren't a manufacturer. It's a Ritz store brand that gets slapped on product obtained via the lowest bid. Like Forest Gump's box of chocolate you never know what you're going to get. At least Sigma and Tamron engineer and build their lenses.

Cheers

Those are awesome pictures. But thanks everyone for the help, and sorry surfer for that whole incodent. Dont stop trying !
