Leonardo's Formosa Forest 2

Yep, you can hear them when they ramp from 100% down to a lower setting. I've even tried the different impellars and voltage amps per Tunze. Next, I guess Tunze will be reworking their magnets. Its not everyone of them, but they are aware of it. I've also heard that the European ones might not have the same issue ;)

Are they going to be offering replacement magnet? I guess what confuses me is the the European got the new models first, so why are they not having the issues?

It could be because out electrical ampage is different. They worked fine overseas and were beta tested on theirs, but maybe our current has just a little more juice  I have heard that there "might" be a replacement magnet or molding that "could" be in testing to see if that solved the problem ;)

Not getting the "golden rule" concept. Maybe it's time for me to read up. Is it what feng schwei (spelling?) is based around?

Walt, Feng Shui is a different thing and has more to do with the comfort of human in relation to their direct environment and interior design.
Maybe you can learn some more from my blog where I explain a bit about Iwagumi and Golden Ratio.

Thanks everyone for the input on the new Tunze streams. I'm still hesitating to sell of my old style Tunze's for the new ones. I'm very happy with them and their known for their high quality and long lifespan.
I'll ask around over here what the experiences are with noise levels compared to the old streams.

The tank is almost filled zero TDS RO water (7-stage). I'm adding the salt right now. 10% with Tropic Marin Bio-Actif to give the initial bacteria a boost and make all the new water less aggressive. The rest (90%) with my favorite salt for a long time, KZ Reefers Best Premium.

Of course ;)

Last week I filled the tank with RO water and added the LR that was cooking in the container.
Short after that the water became a bit green again, although I aggressively filtered the water using large amounts of GAC and GFO.

I made an RDSB from a 8 gallon glass container using Oolitic Sand. I had good experiences with it in the FF1. It gave me a "backup" when feeding very heavy.
The skimmer can't take out everything immediately of course.

During last week I made some first steps to an aquascape, that is almost finished now.
Today I began to change out 80% of the water with fresh RO+salt. I have an update shortly when I'm finished :)

Very nice Leonardo, can't wait to see the finished aquascape. Even your RDSB looks clean and modern :p

Of course ;)

Progress

Thanks guys! Pcrain, the tank in the background is the Lagoon transformed to a temporary SPS collecting and grow out tank ;)
When this tank is ready everything will be transferred and the Lagoon will be taken apart.

That pile of rocks looks a lot bigger than what you had in the original Formosa Forest. Are you still planning on using very little rock and having the corals fill up the tank? Or will your aquascape be radically different this time?

Great to see it wet Leo!

Will your RDSB sit in your sump, or are you plumbing it in somehow?

Thanks Austin, I'm also exited to finally start the tank :) The RDSB will be placed in the sump. It is currently cycling inside the tank, because the sump isn't connected to the tank yet.

I ordered a whole box of fresh Bali Live Rock. It is way too much for the aquascape, the rest will serve as extra filtration in the sump.
The aquascape won't contain much rock because the relatively fast growing staghorn Acropora will need all the space to grow out, just as in FF1.

Looking good Leonardo!

How deep is the sand in the RDSB?

I am just trying to picture this! The 8 gallon glass container will go in the sump and the sump water will just flow over the container?

Do you feel you may have any concerns with hydrogen sulfied or any other forms of gasses building up in that deep of a sand bed?

Looks very interesting I may do the same for my tank.

Thanks

Kevin
