Thanks for answering the question Buzzy. Glass is 15 mm thick.

Ziyaad, I will grow Chaetomorpha and Caulerpa Prolifera in the Refugium. It will contain a DSB (basically a RDSB).
In this fuge I will keep many snails (Trochus, Nassaria) and several shrimps. These will provide a constant source of live plankton.
The Reversed Photo Period will prevent a pH drop at night. The refugium will be lit with a 70 Watt MH spotlight.

Okay thanks I was thinking the same because the Levamisole is really hitting the corals every time.

Confused Joost? :lol: Think of this, all the free floating eggs and larvae of snails and crustaceans can provide and extra, live food source that won't put much pressure on the nutrient levels. I've got no scientific evidence, but after seeing my snails "in action" and see the shrimps releasing their larvae, I got the idea to keep many and create an extra food source.

Just one thing, i see you are doing a BB tank again just like the last one. What is your resoning for running a bare bottom tank and how do you keep the bottom clean and clear?

I started a thread about the latest and greatest meds (since I've been out of SPS for a while) and it's all the rage. Supposedly it kills everything but the coral.

Bare Bottom allows me to keep detritus suspended in the water column until it is skimmed of. This provides a good food source for the corals.
It also allows me to feed very heavy without increasing nitrates and phosphates, because I can skim off everything fast. Basically it means I can have direct and fast control over the water parameters.
Besides that I just like the look of BB tanks very much.
Good water quality keeps the bottom free of algae. Coralline algae are scraped off, just as easy as the side panes.
