Leopard Wrasse aggression

Hey guys,

I recently got my hands on a really nice Macropharyngodon geoffroyi (potters wrasse). After acclimating the fish i went to fetch my social acclimation box and dropped it on the way back to the tank rendering it useless. Well the issue is i already have an established common leopard wrasse and hes not too happy with his new tank mate. The older leopard left the potters alone for the first day but now is laying the hammer down. It is relentless and wont leave my potters alone. The potters is actually bigger then the common leopard. Just wanted to ask if anyone else has had problems with established leopards. Oh and the tank is a 125g SPS dominated.

My leopard ( M. meleagris) showed no interest in an H. Melanarus I recently added, but I have no experience with 2 leopards. Sounds like you need another acclimation box. Does the new wrasse eat well? Hopefully the aggression subsides

i have been lucky as i have many mixed leopards but i always do some sort of aquascaping before i add a new fish and it seems to be working . sps tanks are hard because its usually hard to move rocks around but i would try as this is a terratorial fight from the first leopard to the newcommer as he doesnt want to share his space .

Yeah that's my issue right now. He eats frozen really well so ill see what i can do. Hopefully things cool down. Unfortunately it was after hours so i couldn't run out and get a new box, and catching the potters would be impossible, unless i want to tear apart the entire tank. I added a blue flasher at the same time and my existing filimented flasher and him are now best buds, go figure. I guess i just have one mean leopard. Ill let you guys know how it goes.

can you move any rockwork in the tank easily ?

It might be possible. Tomorrow if the aggression continues that's what ill be doing. Unfortunately i like the potters better then the older leopard. Hopefully things calm down so i can keep both of them.

If you don't want to drop $40+ on a real acclimation box, you can use one of the critter-keepers from Wal-Mart/Petsmart/etc and drill a bunch of holes in it.

$5-10 vs $40 and you don't have to wait 5 days to get it.
