Leopard wrasse

I know in some cases, such as buying online it is not always possible to see them eat, but for your first leopard wrasse, I would do my darndest to acquire one that is already eating. Hedge your bets as best you can on difficult species.

Amen to that. Also check for mouth damage which is common to the species due to transport mechanism.

Leopard wrasses of all species eat PE mysis out of the get go. I am not quite sure why you always need to take a contrary view?

Too much 'dogma' here sometimes mate! FWIW, the leopards I have had most certainly have not eaten Mysis from the get go.

i have had quite a bit of success with getting a few in the past to accept pellets after mixing with nutramar ova. i don't know of any fish that can resist the ova. i purchased my last two blue star wrasse from brett at nicewrasse.com. he puts them through extensive quarantine and when you get them they are already eating pellets. Price is more than reasonable.

The tank is not a brand new tank. I have some many copepods and amphioxus that they're bugging my corals. I used to have fish but they died from ich after the move. My tank has been set up and running for a while I have all kinds of corals but I've been fish less because I've had to wait for the ich to clear out before adding fish agin

Here, Here! I agree I have gotten leopards and kuiteri wrasse eating pellets and PE Mysis by mixing them. I'll say it again, NutraMar Ova aka fish crack! I have not had any fish that would not eat it! Longest was the Kuiteri wrasse 2 days, and he was out of the sand on day 2.

Yes, Nutramar Ova is irresistible to fish.

 to the nutramar ova...

x3...NutraMAr Ova and live Arcti Pods works for me with all my finicky eaters, Leopards,Tamarins and Anthias, but some took PE Mysis from the start. May not work for larger fish like my Regal which didn't look at it, but started on clam on a half shell.

My two cents is that a solid feeding regimen can compensate for live foods in many cases. I have many pod eaters doing well with very good body weight. I feed often and I pay attention. How often do you plan to feed and what? If you get a healthy animal and feed properly, I don't think most leopards are harder to keep than any other fish. Don't be cavalier but don't be overly concerned.
