Oh my god! A black mouse in the snow?! Did you buy a feeder mouse and throw it out there?! hahahaha Survival of the fittest at its finest. What a great, great shot.

Wow, I'm not much into bird pictures but the second and third shots are amazing. The eyes are just spectacular! Excellent job on all of them.

Thank you . This birds natural prey are Leming's which they seek out and feed on in Northern Canada and the Arctic this year as in past years they migrate down in search of food cause food becomes scarce up north in winter. There are scattered sightings all over up here in the Midwest this particular bird has been at this location for a couple weeks now they are daytime hunters and prefer open fields and mounds that rise above the fields and have no fear. Yes people will bring a mouse and place it on the snow and once it see's the mouse it takes all but a few seconds for this beauty to come in and snatch up that mouse and return to its mound. A Snowy Owl will consume on average 3 to 5 Leming's a day. A very rare and spectacular event to see and even better photograph.

Here is another shot , look closely you can see a white mouse in the grasp of the Owl, another factoid this is a Female the Males are pure white and the Females have the spots.

Magnificent!

Deserves to be said again!!!!!!

Those are great shots, what lens did you take them with?

Hah, that white mouse is like Eff Ewe and is biting the owls foot :)

Just gorgeous, I love to see your pics. There was a Snowy Owl hanging around Elevator Rd up here last winter, but I haven't heard of any sightings yet this year. I would love the opourtunity to photograph one.

Thank you guys it is a great opportunity to have the chance at these beauties. This year there seems to be quite a few around cause of the very cold winter. These birds are pretty fearless and have been known to attack Wolves in defense of their nests.

Would love to see some of these. You'd think living in AK I would have by now. Saw one in a distance in Canada but took off beofre I got a shot. Nice images.
