JPMagyar,
I also have tubbs and those blue w/ green ring zoos as well. They were sold to me as Australian Blue Zoas but never researched to see if accurate. Beautiful all the same. You say you don't measure iodine, mag etc., but My question to you when i see your awesome tank is with all those "sticks" you must measure all other chemistry numbers don't you?
Sorry for hijacking but just amazed by the "sticks" and zoos in JPs tank. :jester:

I do measure the "big 3" as it were: Alk, phosphate, and salinity on an almost daily basis, and then I check Mg and Ca about once a month. In general I have found that maintaining a constant alkalinity is a challenge but doing so seems to keep almost all other parameters perfectly in line. I tested a couple times for Iodine and Potassium but I found that my levels were "in line" with seawater so I decided they must be ok just from water changes and the tiny bit of dosing I do so I don't really worry about them too much.

I had been a big believer in maintaining slightly elevated Mg, but after seeing Big Ed's tank, corals, and reading his thread now I'm not so sure. He has incredible colors and uses Instant Ocean for his 10% weekly water changes and keeps his Mg at about 1100 to 1200 whereas I have always tried to keep mine 1300 to 1400 under the assumption that it made keeping constant alk easier.

Just goes to show how many myriad variations work when trying to grow corals :D

This little area turned out well for me. The zoas grew around the cavern in the rock leaving a cave of zoas.

Wow. Some beautiful colonies you guys have. Still trying to sort everything out in my tank and still learning, but hopefully I can get to this level one day. Inspired!

Such great colony collections. I cant wait for mine to start to grow out. Just takes time! Thanks for sharing.

The photography on that "fire and ice" is amazing. I mean the colony is stunning, and the picture really does it justice. sometime i feel like pictures, and videos do not do reef tanks justice, but this is one instance where that is simply not true.
