Let Them Flash!

I will try. However it is a large tank and these guys move around VERY quickly. All else seems consistent with McCoskers as I have several of them.

Max at Reefhotspot has this 4-5" Red Sea 8 line for me. Can't wait to see the colors after it settles in. Said he picked the best out of about 60. Pairing it up with another 8 line.

Marvin: Thanks. What I have to do is remove my very large Scott's wrasse. He isn't too bad, but just bad enough. I saw that win just got some male McCoskers.

Awesome wrasse, i really want to get one of these also but think they look very similar to my Mccosker in terms of coloration. Best of luck with him!

how about this bad boy? LoLz..

will be getting the female tomorrow.. :)

took the photo with flash.. really hard to catch them without flash.. ofcourse, colors are a bit washed out when you use flash...

I doubt that there would be a problem with McCoskers and the red sea eight line flasher. I have both and there is no interaction.

I got the 8 line from Max yesterday and while I was acclimating all I could say was Wow!! Amazing colors and huge fins. When I pair with my other I'll take pictures.

Sounds like you are one of the lucky ones. According to Scott Michael's book, the 8-Line is the most aggressive member of the genus.

Any one else have any luck with one of these and other flashers in the same tank? If yes, I will keep my eyes opened for one of these too.

No experience w/8 line and other flashers, but I can tell you it has been a perfect citizen with all the fairy wrasses, larger and smaller.

Hey Guys,

I can tell you that, in our experience with the 8line, we have never had a problem with them nipping at or even chasing other fish around. Large angels' 8line was in a 75 sand bottom holding tank with PVC drops for hiding. There were about 10 other smaller assorted flashers in the same tank and we didn't see any aggression whatsoever. The longest that we have held any 8line was 7 weeks and we so no progression toward dominance let alone a bad attitude. That said, a holding tank setting is not indicative of what might happen in a home aquarium but I would be surprised to hear of a problem that was more than an exception.

Just my experience with them.

Guys i got a juv. eightline and i have had him for 6 months now and i have not had a prob with him..he is with a whipfin, male and female redfin, mccosker, blue flasher and candyhog and i have not had one prob and he was in there first... his pic is in my gallery but he has been my fav and seems to be the better out of all..the little guy is in his own world

I have a Paracheilinus cyaneus aka blue flasher mixed with some other high end fairy wrasses, can I add another flasher maybe a Paracheilinus lineopunctatus aka line spot flasher or a Paracheilinus mccoskeri or would they go to war with each other?

Scott

I 've always wanted an 8line red sea flasher ---what types of substrate have you had success w/? It dawned on me its a flasher and not a fairy wrasse --I have that carib sea aragonite reef sand mixed with one bag bahama pink

I dont want to drop $120 just to have it die --Ill have to go w/ a scotts or flame then

That 8 line I got from Max is fantastic! He said he picked it cause of the large fins. They are like sails!! He is eating great and even picking Spectrum pellets from the bottom.

I mostly use fine sand as a substrate. I personally prefer that because the leftover food sits on the bottom and the fish easily find it and eat it.
