Let Them Flash!

Thanks all

I am very happy to post article on my favorites. When I get a new/ rare/ unusual Paracheilinus I am sure to show in this thread.

Laurence; I will go to Papi every Saturday so yes, please let me know what you hope to request this time. I will forward it to Papi.

It will be late afternoon. I'll email you. Hopefully you can make it over to Miyakonojo soon. :)

Red Sea Eightline Flasher wrasse, beautiful fish Marvin! How much did you pay and where if you don't mind me asking?

I'm curious to know also if it would get along with my Mccosker Flasher also :)

LFS I know very well were selling them for $50...

they had two of them.. one was bigger than what I got since it was a little bit more timid than the one I got... I hope my buddy picked up the other one.. both are very nice flashers... I hope he can get along with the McCoskers...

heuerfan: do you have any Rhomboids? and where did you get your Flames?

Thanks
Marvin

This is a female form of P. octotaenia. It is 5cm (2") long with several lines on side. Females have four to five lines and the number gradually increases with growth.

I doubt my eyes; your fish, Marvin, is only 1.5" (?) but it seems a male. Yes, you can keep P. mccoskeri together.

thanks Mr. Tanaka... I guess if you count the fins, he's about 2".. maybe bigger...

how hard is it to find the females on these guys? all the flashers are so closely related esp when they're still so young...

will adding a McCosker's (smaller one) increase the chance of seeing them both flash?

Marvin

Thanks and yes, if there are more males they tend to display more (not for spawning but fighting, but usually not serious).

Dr. Tanaka, is there a variation on P. McCosker with a blue rather than red anal fin? I accidentally acquired one like this which was categorized a McCoskers. Maybe it is?

snorvich,

Blue in stead of red ? I have not seen or heard of such coloration on anal fin, and I hope to see your pics soon if possible.
