Let's Get URI to Make T5's...!!!

Would you like to have URI make their wonderful bulbs (currently only available in VHO ) in T5 editions? I sure would love to have some URI Super Acintics in T5 format!

Heh, good luck. I have emailed them two times about it and never got a response.
 
I sent a snail mail request and a email request to URI. Good idea, Todd, I hope they pay attention. I hope everyone else sends them requests too! Come on fellow reefers, we need to get the word out to URI that T5's are the future and that we will buy the bulbs if they make them!

Good question. I wonder if anyone has. I know a big part of URI's business is bulbs for tanning beds in tanning salons.
 
I use URI VHO's but sent an e-mail anyway thinking of using t-5's on my next tank.

Has anyone gotten any replys yet
 
Since their main specialty is VHO lamps for tanning beds, VHO lamps aren't much of a stretch for the aquarium hobby. Starting a new production line for T5s just may not be in their long-term plans. URI obviously makes some of the best lamps in the business and so it shouldn't be a technical issue for them, probably just a ROI issue (return on investment).
 
I spoke to them on the phone & they said they are working on having the t5 Super Actinics out in the next 3 months (the end of the year the latest)
I also sent an email & they never responded.
I hope to see um soon!

yes, less watts, longer bulb life and more PAR from the t5ho..
the only real thing vho has over t5ho is the lack of a good actinic at the moment.. which is why this thread exists..

i cant wait til uri makes these t5ho super actinic..

and if they make actinics, they might as well make some other K bulbs as well:cool:
 
By the time URI comes out with an actinic T5 it probably wont look any better than anyone else's. I have some cheap actinics on right now that look pretty close to what the VHO looks like, maybe more purple than pink but not bad. Only question is how long will they last.
