Lets See SPS LED Tanks!

It's typical that when the original poster asked for pics of SPS LED tanks, that the haters think nothing of chiming in with nothing but negative posts on how LEDS just suck :uzi:. Then when the troops finally arrive with these awesome pics of LED lit sps tanks that have been up and running for years, the haters crawl back under the reef rubble :bounce1: Great tanks guys n girls! Leds ARE the future. Like it....or else :blown: :uhoh3:

Question for you LED users. Because of the spotlight effect of the LED's, does your coral get whiter on the underside.

Especially as it grows & shades more & more of the underlying coral base?

Good question. I have a 65 DSA rimless 36x20x21. Since I set it up I've used a Radion G2. Started seeing bases of my corals whitening so I added 4 ati t5 bulbs. Also, added 120 degree optics to radion. Really helped. I did this because I wanted to copy the halide t5 combo. To this point I really like this combo just not the floating canapy ;).

Because of the canapy look I can't decide if I want to go all t5 or all radion. I know this the tank looks so much better when the t5's come on. To my eyes anyway.

Odd, mine look like floating Monkey Bars but, i love my LEDS to much anyway :wildone:

Thanks guys
As for the base question the answer is No. My SPS Does not loose color or turn white on the base. Even on my tables the underside get some color as well.
I believe that with the new fixtures and advanced lenses this issue is now fixed.

On the door, it looks like lights on the top and the rest are switches (3 position?). Inside the cabinet, you have circuit protectors up top and a bunch of relays in the middle. What's above the Apex, I don't know (with the small LCD display). I'm not certain if the relays are timers or just control relays.

Essentially, he can 'program' his electrical output with relay logic.

I'm no electrician, but my specialty is troubleshooting PLC programs. They use a digital version of the same logic, but they're much smaller. I see this kind of layout, still, on a lot of machines. When I have to troubleshoot relay logic, my lack of electrical background shows. :D

Anyway, if I'm correct, he can glance at the cabinet door and see the condition of his tank (I'm still not sure what he's controlling with it though). He could do dosing pumps, ATO, overflow control. With the correct power conversion, the possibilities are endless.

Imagining this for an aquarium is like a dream. I'm drooling! :D

i just read a post by a guy who paid way to much money for some LED's on his like 20gal ish tank and he thinks his zoa's love it.

but here is the kicker and common answer to the question he has only had them for a month. And no pictures of course

I can agree with this. I had two kessil a360s up and running on my tank. My sps didn't do well but all of my LPs thrived especially my ZOA's
