Lets see those anemones

I look through this thread, and I don't believe that I have posted this one,

This guy is stunning...

Nice nems every one. For a beginner, would you all recommend starting with a BTA?

I think many just throw the BTA out there as a good starter nem, and it can deal w/ lower light, and even if it is stressed it just usually splits giving the false appearance of success, but really it depends on your setup.
A nem should be in balance w/ your tank/occupants, each has different flow/light requirements, and placement.
So I personally don't like them in sps tanks as they tend to wander more, and they usually walk high up on rocks, and sting along the way.
So research first, then decide.
I personally prefer sand dwellars for mixed reef.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the info. I am working toward an sps dominant tank and would prefer a sand sweller myself. I think I'll research them and then when my tank is ready go with it. Thanks.

I just went w/ a Malu for the first time after reading on them.
They are sand dwellars, nice colors, and they don't get as big as many host nems.
My crispa gota about 2' in diameter, and my doreensis about 18", and those ate up alot of space, limiting coral room.
A Hadonni was my next choice, but they get big too, and seem more delicate.

My new pride an Joy. Been looking for one for about 6 months but they were all way too expensive. Found a new supplier in QLD Australia that have multiple for sale and at 1/4 the price of the ones in Western Australia.

Anyway here it is. It's about 12" across. It eats like a pig so I'm hoping its all good. Only got it 2 days ago...

Here's an old pic of a purple LTA that I had. I liked this one quite a bit.

I've got two RBTA's in my 40 breeder. I'll try and take a few pictures later.
