Joe, IME I have had acans that like very high light, and others that just cant take it (and fade/bleach). I feel that it depends on the morph, and where it was collected (depth). Also, I have had acans that can do either high or low light (many can adapt like this actually), but they'll look completely different depending. One of my favorites I fragged and I have one low in the tank, and one high, and they are both OUT OF CONTROL!!! Most reefers would assume that they are completely different, while in fact they were the same colony. Same base color, but one is way brighter green with green mouths and barelt any striations, while the other maintains the bright green mouth, but has developed striations, and another colored ring outside the mouth. I dont have pics of both (only the bright, the Spartan Spirit - seen below), but I'll get some up soon.
On feeding, dont overfeed. I have had them overgrow their own skeleton and actually receed. Overgrowth of the skeleton is fairly common, and to an extent, not a big deal, but I was feeding everyday (too much, too often) which caused them to way overgrow their skeleton. Very similar to what can happen to a duncan if fed too much (there has been a thread around about that). I now feed every 3 days, sometimes every other. I occasionally will feed small amounts everyday, but thats the key, small amounts. I know some people who keep acans and their corals are lucky to be fed once a month! They do fine and for the most part keep their color, but not much growth out of them.
Forgot to add, NICE first colonies!!! My first colonies a few years back were all brown and gray! LOL

About eight months ago I got rid of a lot of my larger acan colonies to get some more exotic morphs. Here are some of my favs that I've grown out since then:
