Lets see those pics of covered powerhead intakes

The sponge is a pain because you have to constantly change them to keep them clean.

That other material you can get at craft stores, in the knitting section. It's very cheap.

Also, rubber bands will break after a while, use cable ties instead

Will they not sucked up through that, i though on the website it said to do that for like power filters, did not know you can use the same trick on the power heads.

Do you know what the name of the material is?

I just cut off a piece of sponge filter, and make a slit in it. I then rubberband it to the intake. Works pretty well, although needs to be cleaned every so often.

I just bought a piece of sponge filter that has a hole in it and I cut it in half and slipped it over the intake on my MJ1200 and my MJ400. Works great. I have to clean it every few days but that is ok.

not a powerhead, but you get the idea. This is in my QT tank.

I don't know the name of the plastic mesh, but you can get it at a craft store like michaels or even in the craft section at walmart. It is around $0.59 a sheet. They will also have a flat plastic "rope" called gimp that works great for sewing the craft mesh together.

here is a little feeder cage I made out of the same stuff. It fits two small cubes of mysis on top of each other. Thats a half disolved cube of prime reef in the pic.
