The majority of mine have come from treasure hunting at LFS, and most weren't very colored up when I got them. You've gotta use your imagination, or better yet get a cheap LED flashlight that has just those neon blue LED's, you can shine it on brown corals and get an idea of what they'll turn into. If you look for fully colored up versions you'll either never find them or will get tricked into paying a ton of money online for a $3 mushroom.

I found it browned out for I think like $3 in an LFS junk corals bin, going treasure hunting to support your LFS is a great way to expand your collection! If I drive by a fish store I stop, every 3rd or 4th time I find something that will color up really nice.
