Let's see your equipment!

Hey willtel76, do you have cavitation problems with your return pump plumed at an angle like that and the distance the water has to travel back to the tank?

Nope. The return is throttled back quite a bit to prevent the return from outrunning the overflow, if it were wide open I may have some issues. The U-tube into the sump will be replaced soon with a flooded intake as soon as my diamond hole-saw arrives and I can drill the sump.

I always wanted a nano with a sump, How wild would it be if you had a 100 gallon sump connected to a 12 gallon nano (like someone here doesn't already have one).

very nice and clean setups everyone!
Here is mine.

I assume that your fishroom is in your basement and your tank is above it, sweet. Thats something I could never own, see here in California people didn't think it was necessary to install a basement back in the day, now with home prices around $700.00 a square foot a 1000 foot basement would be a dream. does your tank stay a constant temp from summer to winter?

Mine is very simple. I still have to add an ATO

(90g display)

Yup, the fishroom is in my basement. I have never had a problem with temp since I got my chiller. I also picked up a new toy today!!

Some of you guys are insane! I'm impressed. This is for my 90g. It is under the stairs in the basement.

Nice use of space, stereomandan! :)

Thanks drummereef! The basement is unfinished at this point. I'll be starting to finish it off this year, and finally make a family room on the other side of the equipment room wall. I'll update my original 90g build-up thread along the way.

I tried to keep it functional with as little equipment as possible. No extra bells and whistles to take up my time. Now I just need to get another Brute can for my mixed salt water to make water changes easier. The Large Brute can in the picture with RO/DI water will last for one month of auto top-off without refill. (the tank evaporates about 1g/day)

Sorry, no recent pictures, but here are some from October '06 when I just transferred everything over from my old 38g to the new 90g.

The outdoor box has been running now for over 2 years. It is 99.5% weather proof. One close hurricane and things got alittle damp, but we had no power anyhow untill I hooked up the generator. COLD, nope do not have that problem, live in Florida, 2 300w heaters plugged into the chiller for controls keeps things fine. Now HEAT was another problem, thats why that big attic fan is mounted on the side. It is Thermostat controlled and during our 95 deg days runs quite a few hours aday. But usually only kicks on when the chiller kicks in and starts exhausting the heat....
My next box will be a larger shed type unit with more storage capacity.
My first week in our new house I had a masonary sawz-all blade out blowing holes thru the block wall to the outside. Wife thought I was nuts. Then when she heard our virtually silent tank, I was a genius.
