HOLY COW!:eek2: That is one of the absolute best aquascaping jobs I've ever seen. That tank is going to look amazing when everything grows in.
What are the large plates that form the base of the islands? Is it aragocrete?

SteveDohoney, I love those two very large flat rocks you have as "bases" in your tank... Are they real rocks, or did you make them, could you go into details on these as I have been looking for rocks like this for my aquascaping...

I don't know how, but I missed your post! Made the large shelves by using 1 part portland cement and 5 parts crushed coral. Each rock is about 50 lbs. I just laid it out on a flat piece if plywood and tried to make it as gnarly as possible. I pressed in large pasta shells here and there and stuck my fingers in a few times to create craters and such. I then soaked the rock in fresh water for about 5 weeks and dropped them in. These were my second attempt, the first time I used crushed oyster shells and it smelled like low tide and was too flaky looking. It's really very easy and there is no way I could have found rocks like this anywhere! They hide my eductors and give my fish a great place to hang out while I can still see them. Here is a shot while the rocks were soaking.
