Lets see your orange torch!

i also have one of the Aussie ORANGE torches acdraindrps.. i got it form a reef creation as well.. Randy always gets sweet stuff in.. hey WE know its orange rite? so who cares. the orange Aussie hammers he gets in are awesome too..

i have seen these torches in the flesh and the the color is more of a orange/yellow mix, (not yellow enough to call them yellow but not orange enough to trully call them orange).

they are still very nice though.

BTW, i know its not a torch, but i couldnt resist
Stock pic taken under 250W DE reeflux 12k, NO actinic!

I have been working in lfs for a few years now and i have never seen a orange frog or hammer or what ever. And im not saying there is not . But any one can tell you its from aust. and not just any were in the ocean and there are a few shady places that will die there corals just like anemones to sell them. The real truth will be i how long it holds the color long term.

Mine has held it's color for about 2 months now. When you actually look at mine there isn't any yellow to be seen. For some reason when I take a picture of it both with my cheapy camera and my sisters camera which is somewhat better than mine, yellow shows up in the picture. http://areefcreation.com/store/inde...up_image&pID=16
This is a much better picture of what we have. This is what the actual orange torch looks like. This is not a photo shopped pic. The picture on the web site was taken with an expensive looking camera with some sort of special lens. No light tricks. I've seen the store owner use it on many occasions. Obviously I don't much about cameras nor do I really care too. I'm lucky to live about 5 minutes away from a reef creation and there beautiful selection of corals. He ordinarily has some sort of unusual color morphs of various types of corals. Most never make it to the web page because there usually sold out within a week of receiving the items. Believe us or not it doesn't really matter. On that note I'm done arguing.

Ya, I've gotten those torches in a couple times with the aussie shipments. They have a hint of yellow/gold to the polyp tentacles, especially in the right light, but I would not call it orange by any means. Kind of a light purple/grey tip.

Here's a pic

You can see a green frogspawn in the lower right corner, and can see how the coloring is definitely different. Still not what I would call orange.

By the way you can get a decent slr camera for under $1k nowadays. Although the irony is not lost to me when you consider "Hey look at this cool deal I got on this coral it was only $30! But I had to pay $800 for the camera to show you it :("

what lighting etc is your "orange" torch under and were you using the flash on your camera?

Most people use cameras for other things than reef picture taking, therefore getting an expensive camera has many justifiable reasons including tank pic taking, an important one imo. But if your going to create a thread about orange euphyllia and tell everyone they are taking crazy pills for not believing in your colors, then I would have to tell that person to buy a better camera to convince me.

So, are orange torches rare? I got one a few months back, never even thought of it being anything other than a regular torch.

I dont think ANY coral is 'rare'. ;) There's just too much ocean out there. The torch corals in question are just the normal ones coming out of australia now. It seems quite a few people are getting them, so I wouldn't even venture to call them 'unusual'. :)

The hammer in my post (just above yours) has been in my tank for 8 months, its growing and not loosing color. Is it not orange?

Wow, I did not realize this would have cause such a stink. By no means did I intend to start a conflict or ask people their opinion on wether or not they think that my torch is orange. To me it is orange, and to a lot of other people who own the same color morph, call it the orange torch. If you agree, tell me its cool, if you don't I could honestly CARE LESS, so you might as well not waste your time flaming me on this thread.

I don't care what your experience is, what kind of dslr you own, what quality pictures you take, or where you get your corals from. The point of this thread was to see other people's orange torches, and instead I guess I set myself up to get flamed by a bunch of jerks who think they know better? Well I am here to tell you I DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR OPINION, nor did I ask for it. So if you have a picture of an orange torch, or other orange euphyllia (MarkKlier?) please post it, if not then please do not respond to this thread.

Thanks.

Looks green to me no matter how many pics you take. But if green is orange to you that is all that matters. So if I say my Ford is a BMW does that make it a BMW?

I'd definitely call mine gold. I don't think orange is correct.

And it is quite hard to get the shine with a cheap camera, but if you can adjust your white balance it helps.
