Actually the wrasse in picture number 2 is Stethojulius bandanensis.

Hey guys.. I managed to get this pic of the my other wrasse that I said I had no idea what it is!

I think in Australia, we are quite lucky to get some wrasses at descent prices! Unfortunately though anything else is damn expensive!!!

Can someone help me ID please? Many thanks!

Ahh Many thanks! I didnt know they come in different patterns! He was very shy when first placed into the aquarium. The 6 line kept chasing him for a week everytime he came out. Now he's grown a set of balls and is fighting off the 6 line! I'll be taking the 6 line out tonight.. though.. thats gonna be challenge!

I guess he's not rare then!!! Sorry to post in this forum! :)

Anyone have any experience with a Cryptic six line wrasse Pseudocheilinops ataenia?...
I want someone for my mixed 75.....I really like the six line but have heard it can be aggressive.....my Lfs says that this cryptic six line is much less aggressive.....anyone?.

I have followed this thread for a long time, and really enjoy seeing everyone's great wrasses on here. Here are a few quick shots of my collection.

Exquisite fairy wrasse:

One of the most under rated fairies in my opinion. I actually have a pair, but I can never get a good picture of the female.

Rhomboid fariy wrasse:

Started with a pair of these as well. The female took a ride down the overflow and got caught in a filter sock. By the time I found her, she was gone.

Does anyone else's Rhomboid show these colors?

Not as exotic as some on here, but a collection that has brought me tremondous enjoyment.

great looking pics maxwell and fish too! I just got a pair of exquisites and I only hope mine look like yours! Hey do you happen to know the geographical variant of that exquisite? it looks like fiji ?

My pair is from the maldives. The fiji variant has a lot less red and is more of a light green. The closest variant to the Maldives is probably the vanatu.

Thanks for the compliments on the fish. I can tell you that they are very addicting, but I think I am done (still not 100% sure as I have been eyeing a couple more lately :spin2:).

actually the closed varient to maldives is African. I have both, a male and female, and as you know there is not much sexual dysmorphia between male and female exquisites.

Yes you are right, I forgot about the african variant. There are so many color variants of the exquisite it is hard to keep them all strait.

As far as differences in male and female, you are right there are not a ton. The male is going to have a lot more vibrant colors, and be larger. Other than that they are one of the few fairies that it is extremely easy to tell the females apart from females of other species.

actually if you pay close attention it is very easy to tell them apart as the females have dresses and the males wear slacks ,usually kackies:headwally:
