Let's see your SPS nanos!

Yeah, so far I am happy with it but like you said the 250W would be better. I have been trying to decide on whether I wanted to keep sps or soft corals, so I bit the bullet and set up 2 nano systems. Right now I'm just waiting for some funding to finish the softies tank, it needs lighting and a skimmer. I'm thinking about 2x65W pc fixture and a coralife superskimmer.

I think that 2*65 would be great for softies, I had 2*55 over my 15G softie tank and it was perfect. Just make sure to replace the bulbs at the 6 month mark, I have that Lux meater and PC bulbs really drop off, and get a fixture with a fan, the bulbs really do last the 6 months if you keep them cool.

You going to leave the SPS system BB? I know you were going back and forth about that at one time too, but never heard the resulution.

For now I'm going to, it's easier to add sand later then try and take it out if you decide to! What I want to do is put sps frags on the bottom and let them cover it up, something like encrusting montipora, pavona, and maybe some lps like favia.

Ive got some more pics.

20H
150W MH 14k 6 inches above water
2 maxi 900's on a wave timer & a 600
coralife super skimmer
via aqua 1800 return
dose 2 part every day & topoff 1/4 gallon morning and night
(bought crappy 14k bulb, switching to 10K with 03 pc actinic next month)
non-pair of clowns and a 6 line wrasse reside in the tank along with 6 turbos & one mexican turbo(arnold the algea terminator)

I won't laugh at your picture Jovreefer, I have posted much worse. One thing you might try in your photo editing softwhere is to lighten it up a bit so you can see the corals and colors better.

How long has your tank been up? How good would you say your growth rate is with that 150 14K?
Do you do anthing to maintain your sand? (syphon etc)
How much skimate do you get in a week? What color is it?
How much 2 part do you dose every day? What brand do you use? What CA/ALK levels do you maintain?

Thanks for sharing your great tank!

Hey,
I have an Aqualight Pro with a 150watt MH and 2 65watt actinics. Do you think it will provide enough light for clams and orange caps?

Very nice tanks guys. I am working on changing my softies tank to SPS tank so hopefully soon I can post nice SPS tank pictures that looks as nice as you guy's.

Could I get some specs on your system? I see a PH in there, and an Aquaclear fuge. What kind of lighting is that? Do you use a skimmer, or sump of any kind?
Ok, some spec for you:

Equipment:
35 liter (10g) all glass
AquaMedia 150w HQI 20K pendant
AquaClear 70 HOB converted into fuge (put ulva in there, and the amphipod population goes through the roof.. then they ran out of ulva :( )
80mm fan installed on the MH with velcro "quick release"
IceProbe plumbed in through the top of the HOB filter
no skimmer
AquaClear 50 powerhead
approx 4kg of LR

Livestock:
Various Acropora
Echinopora
Pocillopora
Stylopora
3 species of Tubastreae
Zoanthids
T. squamosa
Acanthastrea lordhowensis
pink Gorgonia
2 species of Goniopora, one of them is very rare
1 single corallimorph
1 puny sacro (hitchhiker, growing it up to give it away)

Fish:
Synchiropus picturatus (spotted mandarin)
1 peppermint shrimp

Hi wiskey.
This tank will have been up a year in August, it was an upgrade from a 10 gallon. I dont get the best growth out of this light, I got a crap bulb so I believe that is why & I'm hoping when I change to a 10K XM my growth will take off. the digi's and yongi have good growth though

My before and after shots suck but let me see what I can dig up.

I did syphon my sand about a month ago, but that was to get rid of a little red slime I'm battleing due to overfeeding my baby clown trying to boost his growth.

I run my skimmer wet but dark, Its not see thru, I get about half a cup a week.

I dose "oceans blend" 2 part alk & calc. 1 dosing cup size Calc ( 10 ml I believe) and 9 ml alk. half the alk in the morning before lights on and half when I get home from work. I keep the Calc at 450, alk 10 & Mg 1300 Sg (TM pro) at 1.025.

Whew...I think thats it :)

Ok growth shots ... bear with me while I post them, they are not the best again but I think it shows.

Good deal, Thanks for the reply. I see you have no skimmer, but the only fish you have really doesnt require feeding. Do you feed your tank at all?

What is ulva?

How well does that Ice Probe chiller work for you? About what temprature drop do you get from it?

Thanks,
Whiskey

Thanks for the info Jovreefer, and great pictures and growth shots (I love growth shots).

Thanks,
Whiskey

That is a cool SPS reef, thanks sadielynn, I am accually talking to him about his tank in another thread in the SPS fourm.

Thanks,
Whiskey

Great tank Duec22! Sorry to hear about Frank, it's always ruff to loose a fish.

I can see your flow, but what kind of skimmer do you use? How much skimate do you get in a week? Do you use a Sump? What size? What is your fish load like?

Thanks,
Whiskey

The tank is a Via-Aqua 29gal with the seamless rounded corners. Right now the tank is skimmerless, but I'm looking at putting one on in the next month or two. I think haveing one would have saved me a lot of trouble when the fish died. Currently I'm relying on a 5gal CPR HOB refugium that I have loaded up with cheato (sp), and weekly 30% water changes.
The lighting is 6x24W SLS T-5 retros from reefgeek.com. I have 5 of the lights over the tank and one over the refugium. Over the tank are 3x Actinic plus, 1-Aquablue plus, and one 10K midday Sun.
The fish load right now is two chromis, and a sixline wrasse. I'm thinking of adding another fish since I lost the blenny, but I think I'll give that another couple of months.
