Lettuce Nudis Birth Cycle.

CleveYank

20 Years and Over
My lettuce nudis laid a batch of spiral eggs in my 90 growout 5 weeks ago. For 2 weeks they are on the glass in the spiral shape. They were still alive and I could see them in their little sack hanging on the glass. I carefully cut the sprial into many segments and place some in each tank and in refugium. I left on part of it on the glass as is in the 90. After about 2 1/2 weeks they disappeared from the glass. Spiral remant and all. I figured it blew off the glass in the current.

Saw one last night that is about 3mm long on the glass of the 90 growout. Which is odd since the one that laid the eggs was also on the front glass of the 90.

Anyway, so from egg laid to the size that they can be noticed about 5 weeks. I guess there may be more, but I bet a majority of them met with puree death via pumps.

hmmm I was taking pics of the 90 growout back then....I can take shots of the baby one and the old one. I can't recall if I got the egg spiral. Have to check my photo archive later.

Here's a shot of one of my nudis laying eggs. Hope you don't mind me butting in :)

Yep that's the spiral. Mine laid the eggs on back of the tank so my painted black background blocking so I could not have gotten that good of a shot. Nice.
