ok, so i cant think for the life of me how to spell lettuice .... but I just got a few in in the mail.. i drip acclimated them for around an hour. parameters were looking good. put them in the tank and they surrounded themselves with slime and just sort of sit on the bottom. Its been like half an hour or so...

is this normal or did they not make it>:?

Lots of time when they are first introduced they will surround themselves with slime. I don't think it is the fact that they are being introduced, but that they are in the water column, and that is what they do to help them get a hold of something solid to crawl on. Are your lights on? Are the slugs oriented with their foot below them? Mine often begin to travel through the tank immediately, but I can't say that there is anything wrong with yours. If they are deceased, they will begin to dissolve. Do you have bryopsis for them to eat?

Oh, and FYI lettuce slugs are not nudibranchs. They are a part of a totally different order, Saccoglossa. They are sometimes known as solar powered slugs. Note that not all sea slugs are nudibranchs, but all nudibranchs are sea slugs!

Snowman, any update on your slugs? Reading back on this forum, I saw that you had a Scutus spp. snail (i.e. black limpet) -- do you still have it? They are (IMO) beautiful animals.
