Levamisole In-Tank Treatment for AEFW

Just wanted to posted a follow-up to my first dosage. Everything was out today and looking better than ever. PE on all the corals looked really good. Clam didn't even skip a beat and is looking really good. I haven't seen any flatworms, not even the fork-tail ones that I've never been able to get rid of. I am going to perform 4 more doses to be on the safe side. I've even considered doing one a month after that for a few months to be certain they are gone. It's amazing how your corals really start looking when you get rid of their pests. I don't have any more room to put frags so I won't be adding anymore corals, just fish from here on out.

Does anybody have any shrimp? Curious how they are doing with the treatment because I need to get some before the aiptasia get out of hand.

I have been following this thread closely.. Thanks to everyone who have participated so far. I am really considering treating my tank as well. I am ready to be gone with these pests!! I have not been able to successfully keep millies since my tank was infected by an Austrailian maricultered millie colony.. Again, thanks for the trials everyone! This is looking huge for the hobby!

I'm happy to hear of your good experience thus far. I plan on doing a follow up treatment as well. I have experienced rebound in RB infestation that I believed was due to residual eggs. I am absolutely parandoid this could happen with the AEFWs as they are survival specialists to be sure!

Just do it!

Just be vigilant in the post treatment inspection to be sure AEFW-rebound due to residual eggs doesn't huant you!

I just got my bottle of levamisol, labelled Vermisol 7.5, vehicle add 100.0g....What does it mean?...Is it mean total is 7.5 g in 100.0 g of filler...It is a powder form, not tablet...I ordered from Foy's pigeon supplies...
So how do I calculate this?...
Other question is I have 125gal DT and 25 gal sump (water level)...So my system is 150 gal or should I substract the rock and subtrate out too to get the water total for this treatment....
Thanks
I plan to do it tonight...WIsh me luck

That means out of the 100g total powder, 7.5g is levamisole, the rest is filler.

Regarding your water volume I think you should calculate total volume on the low side. My system was 75g + 30g sump but I decided to base my dose on 75 gallons to account for rock and all.

I will try to help with your dose:

Lets say you have 125g of actual water:

5/300x125= 2.08 gram of levamisole

7.5 grams total levamisole in that bottle (100g)

7.5/100 = .075 grams

2.08/.075 = 27.73 grams of powder for dose.

Nice MATH James!

Thanks James, I just got my digital scale from harbor freight...Now I am gonna measure it and I will do it tonight...Will post result asap....
Thanks all...:)

Doing my display tomorrow. Excited of the possibility of not having pests anymore.

Its amazing how it killed monti eating nudis and flatworms at the same time. The only thing unaffected were/are the eggs. Those need to be removed manually OR just dose 3 - 4 weeks in a row and those that do hatch will be killed.

I ordered from him twice on say a monday and had stuff by friday. I have just about every invert in my tank. Many kinds of snails and hermits, serpent stars , coral banded n pepp shrimp. Also clams, dusters, sps, acans, everything is fine after treating about 5x total. Yrs ago i treated 2x a week apart, months ago i treated 3x a week apart. Stuff is great for killing fw's. Just use correct amount, then have carbon ready to run and enough fresh saltwater to do about a 20-25% water change.

Good info, from my experience with this treatment a waterchange isn't really necessary. I usually do my normal weekly 10% waterchange and run ROX carbon. I could see it being more neccessary when dealing with red planaria since the massive die off would leave toxins.

I think we're going to need some summary info here. Dosing, steps, system setup... Etc... Some have sand, others don't... Are all inverts affected or just pods? Any LPS or sorties?

The dose as outlined in the beginning is 5 grams levamisole per 300 gallons. I turn off carbon/GFO reactor but prefer to leave my skimmer running during treatment. After 5 hours turn Carbon/GFO reactor back on. Treat once a week for 4 weeks.

Only inverts I have seen affected are pods, bristle stars and bristle worms. My serpent star fish has survived 2 treatments already. LPS, Softies and clams have had no problems, might close up for a bit during treatment.

Exactly.

My pods dont seem to ever come out during treatment. I usually see plenty of them days after a treatment , so i assume they make it through ok. Mini stars ( little serpents ) get stunned and lye there looking dead but they come back when treatment is removed by carbon/water change

This is great news for the hobby. I often come across flatworms on new stuff before it goes in my qt. I think I and going to jump on the guinea wagon and try this out in a separate tank. excellent work guys. This thread my go down in history.

Lev is on it's way.

Thanks for tagging along bud, the SPS I got from you are some of my prized specimens that I am trying to keep, lost a few before treatment though :(
