Level Sensor Bar

What is the length of the level sensor bar? I would like to set up a two sensor ATO that will fill a 20 gallon trash can and am assuming that I may need a longer rod. If this is the case, then what diameter rod will I need to use with the fasteners?

The acrylic rod is 13 inches long and measures 10mm thick (measured with calipers).
