Level sensor problem

I have been having a problem with my optical level sensor now for about 4 days. I would come home from work and find my tank full of bubbles. I check the sump and the water level is way too low I then check the profilux socket function and the socket for ato is off? The sensor is clearly not in the water so it should be on. I unplug the sensor from the back of the unit and re plug it in and it suddenly works?? I have done this four times already hoping that it would be the last time I have to plug it in, and still no luck. It seems to work for about a day and then again its stops sensing?? Why is this happening? I will copy and paste this in the support site also.
