LF: astrina stars

hi,

at one point our tank was littered with these astrina stars, since then we introduced a harlequin shrimp, man this thing is beautiful, he ate most of the population in no time, so i am looking for a means to feed his appetite :D

thanks,

I use sand sifters to feed my harlequin. reef safe and they usually lose an arm or two before he actually kills them.

those sand sifter are giants compared to our shrimp, will have to look for smaller ones, thanks for the advice :)

If you have the nerve for it, you can keep a couple of Chocolate Chip stars in your sump and cut off an appendage once a week for your shrimp. The reason you keep more than one is you can alternate between them. I haven't done this, but have read about it on numerous threads.

hmmmm, wonder if the appendage just snap off or you really got to work the knife thru, pretty sure my wife wont allow, but I am going to ask anyways just to see her expression, hehehe, thanks for the advice :)

You want to loan him out? My tank is over run with them and they are starting to kill my coral.
don't think we can get to the shrimp, we always break something when we stick our hand into the tank as it is soo small. to bad ur so far, I would buy some!

I thought the same. They're pretty tough and can handle stars at least 10x their size. I've got a few pics around somewhere.
