Do you guys run GFO? I had a good amount of cheato, but after I got my GFO/Carbon reactor it slowly died away. Starved it of nutrients I guess...

Lokii,
You need to determine what type of algae you are battling. GFO may take out phosphates, but there may be certain macroalgae that require minimal phosphates, but love nitrates.
Same reason why people with biopellets still see issues with phosphates, because the bacterial uptake of nitrate to phosphate is in a certain ratio, and the food we put into our tank may have a disproportionate amount of phosphate to nitrates.
Plus, I have read that too little phosphate just causes all your stuff to "not grow".
But more hermit crabs and/or add a tang to help with the algae problems

It's not totally out of control, like it was in my 75, there are just a few patches that seem to maintain. It mostly looks like GHA, 2 types. One is short and o e is long and slimy.
My nitrates and phosphates test 0 but I am assuming that is because of the algae consumption. I am wondering if I have a nitrate limited system, as it seems much easier to reduce N then P. I'm just trying to get the upper hand on it. Ill be adding the crabs from the reef cleaners order and I will be getting Toms tang after he gets the rocks out and can catch it.
Ill see how the cheato does, if it doesn't grow I may have to yank it. Hopefully one or all of the upcoming changes will kick the algae out.
