LF exploring cost for custom metal rack

I am debating building a welded tank shelving system for my garage tank.

1) anyone know any good welders?

2) what is approximate cost for a two or three level shelf? 48"x24" footprint, with top two shelves designed to hold about 60-100 gal each (so maybe 480-800 lbs) on each shelf with vertical foot/columns able to support 1600 lbs or so if it was fully loaded.

Have you looked at a place like shelvingdirect. I don't know how much you are looking to spend. The shelves there say they are only good for 600lbs once they reach 48" wide.

I'm sure someone on here could weld you something, but if you don't find anyone, I could probbly get you a decent price from the local steel shop. Let me know.

Thanks guys! I have not welded in a long time and it probably wouldn't be reliable.

Grant, thanks! I'll look at the adjustable shelves. That may be the best idea & most flexible in the long run.

Crispy: thanks for the offer, sounds like a bit troublesome. ^_^

Worst case, I'll build a wood double shelf.

Had the guys at Norbay in Petaluma put this together for me about 18 months ago. Cost me $400. 36"x18" footprint 1.25" square tubing. Raw steel was a little more than $100 clean welds and they painted it. Built with earthquakes in mind :D
