In my 10 gallon tank, I have somewhere around 30 Stomatella's. This is the first one of these guys I've noticed. I don't know where it was hiding, it's large enough I should have seen it long before yesterday.

Ya...same here......However.....in that photo, See that RED slime. Thats cyano bacteria...Get rid of it A.S.A.P. or it will take over the tank.

One way is to Increase the water flow to that area. It will only grow in low water flow places.

Actually it's not red slime, it's a red vine algae. It's hard, pulls out like roots of a tree. :(

I asked around an no one had suggestions on how to remove it.

ADD to the above post.

Cyano Bacteria is said to be the original form of life on earth. It has been traced back in billions of years old fossils....

I have had tanks for years & in some....just had it POP up . So get a jump on it. If you see it....puff it off of the rocks & suck it up in your water change...or suck it up with a turkey baster.

Just get it out & increase the water flow

HHhhhmmmmmm. WELL from the pic.....Looks like Cyano.

Send the pic to one of the RC MODS.... Bertoni....mhurley......someone like that...See what they say.... HOPE ITS NOT BAD.......

Guess you didn't see the last post... it's not Cyano. Red Vine Algae, aka Caulacanthus ustulatus.

I bet my tank gets taken over with it, not clue how to stop it.

Sorry....was typing & didn't see the post. I have never had Caulacanthus ustulatus....However...when did you notice it ???

Was it right after adding a new rock, coral, new fish.

Every time I add a fish, coral, rock...anything, I have a spread sheet on my computer. This way I can chart just whats going on in any of my tanks.

If something pops up...I can trase the problem back to the place that I bought it.

Yeah, it came on some frags I bought from a local. I wasn't too pleased about it.

AAAHHhhhh. I have got crap from my LFS....TO ME.....CALL THEM ON IT. If they sold you a fish or a coral Or a frag & it had a chem imballance.....that should be a good sign to RUN.
