So I have a 40b with a 14 gallon sump and dual 1" pvc overflows and im lookin for a good return pump. What would you guys suggest and what do you have???

Some thoughts. You could go with a small flow though your sump, say 300 to 400 gph, if you have some movement generated in the main tank.

Small flow might be good for refugium if you have one in your sump.

You could go with closer to max flow. With more flow you will have to run your sump emptier to handle the overflow when the pump stops pumping.

This calculator may help give you an idea of the max your overflows could handle.

I have an Eheim 1260 with all original fittings for sale at $110. Runs at 635gph at 12 ft. and consumes 65W. Can be run internally or externally. I also have schedual 80 double unions from BRS for in and out for additional $15.
