LF: UV Sterilizers

I have a 40w emperor aquatics that I planned to list soon. Brand new, but without mounting brackets or outlet adapters (both easy to replace). I'd let it go local for $200 if any of you are in the need.

Not to change the subject but if the ich isn't bad, I always went w/ less is more. We didn't use a QT tank and never saw a value in UV. I fed medicated garlic food and added garlic drops. Made sure the stress level was as low as possible and hope for the best.
Good luck!!!

Cheap and effective UV sterilization does not currently co-exist. Either you're delivering a radiation dose at a total tank volume turnover high enough to disruption the target organism(s) life cycle OR you are not. There is no in between. The science behind UV's is very well understood but for some reason aquarium hobbyists insist upon not reviewing the available data, making correct choices and then bad mouth the concept when the process doesn't work. Save your money unless you find someone willing to part with either a 3" to 4" diameter unit with a new non-PC lamp of at least 25watts - 40w preferred. If you find such a beast call me and I'll calculate the correct flow rate for you to disrupt the life cycle of Cryptocaryon/Oödinium.

BTW, the info on the good Doctor's site is rubbish unless your target organism is floating single cell algae.

Thank you for the info I will keep an eye out for what you are talking about.

I take nobody is familiar or have used the chines UV ponds ones? Also I can get an used Aqua 54 watt for a decent price is that to much Wattage or just right? Or get the new JEBAO 72 Watt which is 50 dollars cheaper than the USED AQUA I can get.

:headwalls:

My parting thoughts on this post.

If a manufacturer does not list a unit's zap dosage along with the associated flow rates then don't even consider the purchase. If they can't show their math then they have no chance in designing a device that can kill anything but the simplest of "critters". UV's work on established SCIENCE not wishful thinking. Use Google for something other than trying to find a cheap shopping solution. Others and myself have given you relevant accurate information that will, if heeded, guide you correctly.
