LFS around Cleveland???

I was wondering if any of you would be able to recommend some LFS in the Cleveland area. I'll be in Solon in the near future on business and would like to look around in my down time.
Thanks.

There is nothing that I know of in Solon. There are a few shops worth checking out if you are going to be able to drive 45 mins- 1 hr.

Salty Critter is in Vermilion and by far the best reef store in the area.

Tropical Aquarium is in Brunswick (near the corner of rt42 and rt303) and is pretty much a fish store with a couple of soft corals and some cleaners. It is fun to go look around and I have bought several fish from them.

Aquatic Technology is in Columbia Station and is supposed to be "Ohio's largest saltwater only store" but most of it is unorganized and there is a large selection of various used equipment filling up the greenhouse in the front. The livestock is usually healthy but also overpriced. (the online prices are not honored in store so don't go there expecting to buy something you see to save on shipping.) If you are just going to look around then I wouldn't miss that store.

You could make a trip and include all 3 stores in a few hours. I can't seem to leave Salty Critter without spending an hour inside and $100 or more :D

You can find stuff at Aquarium Adventure, if you are willing to pay double what everything should cost... I went there when they were having their aniversory sale (everything 50% off) and all the prices were a little higher than you'd find elsewhere.

Thanks a million for your suggestions. I'll definately have to check out the Salty Critter. I'm going to look, but ya never know. there's always that one thing you see that you can't live without.
I'm sure everyone here knows how that goes.

Can't recommend Salty Critter enough.....
We are taking a trip to SC today. I've never been there yet, so this is something I'm really looking forward to seeing.

Now if I can only get someone to run interference on my husband to keep him distracted so I can pick out, check out and hide the reciept of anything I know I want to buy :D

If he has a sweet tooth there is a candy shop next door to Salty Critter. You could get him looking at the candy then sneak off to indulge yourself in corals and stuff :D

I have been to Aquatic technology and Salty, I feel that Aquatic Technology has a much nicer selection of fine corals and livestock. Yes it is cluttered, But so is a hardware store, incredible amounts of new inventory and some used supplies, the greenhouse is bigger that salty critters entire store. Just my opinion.

We didn't get to go today, had to take the water out of the display to fix the level problem. By the time we did that and went to Home Depot for shims, was too late to start up to Vermillion.
Sat we are going for sure--he promised :)
As long as they have ice cream at the little candy shop next door, I am good to go. LOL

I may have to see if we take 57 north to go to SC, just take a detour east and check out AT. I love picking around messy places. Sometimes you find some treasures tucked away. (That is the antique hunter in me-but it could apply here too).

AT is a larger store square footage wise than SC but no way in the world does AT have a "much nicer selection of fine corals and livestock" than SC... plus AT is much more expensive than SC in price. The prices on the website don't correspond to the retail end of the store. They do have alot of stuff there. It is sorta like going to a flea market for reef stuff but at saks fifth avenue prices for reef stuff.

I would check out both if I was in the area and wanting to see two good stores... but you can expect to find the highest quality equipment, corals and livestock at SC with the most reasonable prices around. Just my opinion.

You guys are definatey right about aquatic technologies prices being redicoulsly high. However, he treats his fish with copper so they are all very healthy. Also, for that fact dont dump the water in your tank.

Last weekend my girlfriend and I went there for a clownfish & firefish. The clown wasnt to expensive & we had a $3 off coupon from the gold clipper. The firefish prices were insane. They wanted 40 bucks for a firefish you could go and get at salty. But just as we were leaving we found a regular (red) firefish for 13 bucks. So sometimes you can find stuff there. Personally i would only buy fish there & the corals are way to crappy & expensive.

Thank you all. This is the first day since my last post that I've rec'd an e-mail notification of your posts???
So, my apologies for not responding sooner.
To shorten a long story...
Thanks for your replies and input. I'll check them both out. I should have a decent amount of down time.

I checked out Salty Critter today. Pretty cool shop. Thanks for the recommendation.
