LFS in Torrance area

JN Reef

Hey Guys,
I'm trying to find a list of recommended shops in the Torrance area. I only know of Pacific Reef. Is there a thread on this or does anyone have suggestions on other nearby shops. Torrance, Redondo Beach, Gardena...

Torrance has a Pacific Reef... that is my LFS of choice... sorrry Jn... forgot about Jeffs... fish prices are kinna high there but they have a nice coral selection as well also... hope this isnt too late :(

I'd say Jeff's is your best bet. Definitely do NOT go to Neptune's Reef or Aloha. There are several various other little places along PCH, I have been to pretty much all of them, don't really recall names of them, none of them are that great though. EXCEPT I do like Aquatic Fantasy, which is right next to Petco in Redondo Beach:

Aquatic Fantasy
531 N. Pacific Coast Hwy.
Redondo Beach, CA 90277

and they have a website too: www.aquaticfantasy.com

To be honest, I didn't know there was a Pacific Reef in Torrance until just now...so, I can't really compare the two...but anyways, GL!

ps: do you guys know anyone/anywhere who would like a trumpet fish? I need to find mine a new home, just thought I'd ask since I assume you're all in my area... :)

the only ones worth going to are pacific reef, and jeffs....if you want to drive to fountain valley, which is about 15-20 min away, there is tongs.....they also have a pretty good variety of fish, lps, and sps. some of their prices are pretty high, but worth a look.

What are you looking for?

Reefermadness.us (Torr) has great corals & LR. Very limited to no fish.
Pacific Reef (Torr.)
Jeffs Exotic (Gardena)
Neptunes Reef (Torr, I would pass on the fish, limited corals but they do have ASM and Octopuss skimmers)

As fellow Torrancer, Torrancean, or whatever they call us, I'd agree with the recommendations and say stick with Jeff's and Pacific Reef. Haven't been to Reefer Madness but have heard good things about them.

If your willing to drive a bit, then I highly reccomend Reef Hot Spot on the westside. Also, Strictly Fish in Lawndale is decent.

southbay aquarium in gardena. crappy selection but i've found some gem acans and blastos there at great prices!! you can also bargain with the owners there...

reefer madness= SUCKS!!!!!!!!! I've been ripped off over there, and so has someone else I know......I will never EVER go back..... seems to me when you actually go in to buy something they charge you an arm and a leg for stuff and then say "oh let me give you a free frag" when you aready paid soooo much for what you already bought, you acutaully paid for that "free" frag.....they also like to charge way more than what is listed on their site to walk-ins, IMO......... when confronted about it, they give some BS line about "the color on the one I sold you is better than the one on the site" or "the size is diffrent". BS.......I'm partially to blame here because I really didnt know what fair market price was....I'm new to this hobby. I wasnt expecting to be taken advantage of....IMO they are a bunch of crooks!!!!!!!!!!! (end rant)

oh,,,, and please if you go to south bay aquariums, DO NOT buy anything from their display tank......They are breeding flatworms.....there must be millions in there!!!
