LFS "Reef Stew" to seed pods?

My LFS sells a "reef stew" as live food; contains a mixture of brine, pods, and phyto.

I was wondering if this is a legitimate option of seeding a tank with a sustaining population of pods, at least the pods contained in the mixture. I tried a bag, mainly trying to feed a new fish addition, and noticed there's still a huge amount of pods crawling around on the rocks at night many days later. I may have answered my own question, but am curious about your input. TIA.

Seems obvious, right?

This is the first time I'm starting fresh with dry rock; always used air shipped live rock (when it wasn't ridiculous back then). I will have to find out what pods are in the "stew". I noticed a bunch in the water column and lots accumulated on the bottom of the bag. At night, I'm only really seeing whichever types of pods that have settled into the rocks. I'm not even sure if the diatom bloom is enough food to sustain them.
