Hello all I was using Tap water in the past since i moved and dont realy have a place for a RO/DI unit and I am battling hair algae :headwalls: :headwalls:
So I decided to start buying RO/DI water from LFS since I only change 2 gallons ever 2 weeks or so (give or take 2 weks)
Has anyone tested the RO/DI water TDS from the LFS is one store better than any other ? I am in nassau suffolk border south shore .
Thanks

an ro unit takes up maybe the space of 2 loaves of bread... in my experience the lfs dont keep up with their ro units, and within a few months time you easily could have purchased one to have in your home.

i was getting ro water from aquahut for awhile.. im pretty sure i was just getting sink water the whole time though.

Aquahut doesn't give RO/DI water- I'm pretty sure they give chilled tap water lol.

Antman- I wouldn't mind giving you a bucket full while you wait for yours to come :)

I am now running a 24G nano and TRY and change 2 gallons every 2 weeks so the cost of buying a RO would take 2 years to pay for (unless you count in the gas i use going to the LFS)

Haha- I'll give you RODI water free while you wait for your system to come, just stop using tap water. Also you can buy distilled water from most grocery stores for $1/gal that will work if you're only doing 2gal changes

You might try Walmart . I know they used to sell RO/DI water in the Riverhead store . Not sure if they stil sell it .....

AwesomeOceans I have not ordered a unit (yet) I guess I will have to rethink this one out .. I gues If I get one I need to find something I can connect to my sink faucet than put it away when not in use

I mean, if you're only doing 2gal every once in a while- you can buy distilled water for ~ $1/gal at grocery stores... RO/DI is just convenient because it's in your house.
I got mine from bulkreefsupply.com. When I ran my 30gal I used all distilled water from grocery stores- but now it would be impossible for me to lug 20 gallons ($20) every time I want to do a water change from a king kullen haha.
