Lfs Sps

I have been looking around for some nice SPS at the lfss in the area.

I have come to find that all the SPS I see, with the exception of montiporas, are brown in color.

Why is it that they are not the vivid colors that I see on most of the online stores?

Is it poor water quality? If I bought one of these Acros would they color up?

Any help is appreciated

Most aquarium stores do not have the proper facilities to maintain SPS so they often times immediately brown out. Online stores also cherry pick the best of the best so you should expect more color. I would also say some stores edit their images to make them appear better.

Online stores often use Actinic lighting to make their corals look their best for the pictures........and the LFS oftentimes do not know how to care for SPS like FastFish720 mentioned above.....thus the brown colors.

Ok, so as long as my water perms are good they will get back their color? Just want to make sure before I make the plunge

Thanks

i personnally like to buy brown ones and color them up, its kinda like getting a mystery prize... where do you even buy sps in kansas city, im from there and when i go back to visit I can't ever find a decent store.

Well Castor there are about 3 stores within driving distance that may have some decent sps. Fishworld in Blue Springs, Paradise Aquatics in Overland Park, and Aquarium Wholesale in Olathe.

Laters,
