my RO craped out so i had to get some water from the LFS.
TDS......

250?!?! my tap water is 225

has anyone else checked their LFSs' ro water?

I believe it. Just another reason not to trust the LFS. Most just want your money. This hobby is about control and contolling your water source and water readings are best left to you.

my tap water (according to my inline TDS meter) is 116. That is hilarious your LFS's RO water is that high.

Tell me about it. My LFS RO/DI water was 16 which is not that bad. Aftering running the same area water through my system it was 0. I took some water back to the store and they gave me some story saying well well um.. uh uh.... all systems are different and your readings might not be a true reading. I have a digital TDS tester that gets cal very often. They just want the money that's all

:lol: our main broke last night and after they fixed it the tds was only up to about ~260 from its normal ~160. Ouch, sounds like its time to replace the RO filters

That happened to me about a month ago. I let the water run for a while thinking it was safe. WRONG Hooked up the RO/DI and pebbles come though dzmaged all filters.

Yea I had the same thing happen to me, which is what prompted me to buy an RO/DI unit. The water from my LFS tested at about 160 tds.

one of my lfs has RO at about 80, the other at 250. Pathetic!

I know it, God forbid a LFS is in to try and make some money....

That being said my LFS water has a tds of 5 which is pretty darn good IMO. I test it every time I get water from them... It's 25cents/gallon too so I can't complain much.

If push comes to shove and I need water late I go to the water dispensers outside grocery stores. They generally test out at 20ish tds and I can handle that every now and then.
