Yes I am the poor schmuck that got jipped from Coral Corral.new I bought a new Reeflo Pump Snapper.I had a pump burnout on me durring the laborday weekend, and it was Sunday. The only place open was CC.I payed $ 401.26!!!!!! When I knew I could get it for 250.00 From John, I just couldnot wait, in fear of bad watter...But any how I called Pierre to see if we could lower the price seein as the Hammerhead pump was the same price< ya ok!!!! NOpe the snapper is the same he said and thats the way it is so now I wont deal with Coral Corral. I know I was robbed !! But I needed the Pump!So thats the hype of the LFS rippin someone off and it just happend to be me:mad2:

Actually, John had it at $229.00

We know that Reeflo raised their prices recently due to better motors, but this was the old style with the old motor. The new price tag was placed directly over the old one.

Sorry that happened to you man! I learned fast to just go to John, you don't have to worry about shopping all over to get the best price and he will not sell you any junk. If anything like this happens again, see if one of us can loan you a pump until you can get to FAOIS. I have gone without a return for a few days before with no problems by adding extra power heads and feeding sparingly.

thats just very sad. It is unfortunate that a store has to go this low to make a sale. You have to treat every customer as they were your million dollar customer. If they lose a buck thats fine, they have a returning customer.

Now, you screw with the customer. He tells his buddies, his buddies tell their buddies. And you lose 10 customers. All over a couple bucks. Not worth it to me.

Sorry this happened to you.

thats just crazy and bad bussiness. i dont care what john or someone else sells it for but to sell it for almost twice the retail price. 401 for a friggin snapper, think i would contact the better bussiness bureau. thats not good buss. practice. i know its to late now but couldnt you have borrowed a pump from somone for a day. dont think i will shop c.c. anymore, glad you posted this as a few of us are making our monthly trip up to c.c. and faois tomorrow. guess we will be one store short.

not seeing robbery... only seeing that pump, plus open on a holiday was worth $401.26 to both Pierre and yourself...

I've heard other rumors that C.C. doesn't budge much on price... not even for big spenders... but that is his choice. Your choice is to vote with your feet and support the businesses that only have the style of business you WANT to support with your money.

as for the price jack on the pump, I know of many a business owner that does not sell based on a profit margin, but sells for the amount necessary to replace that item on the shelf. If cost from manufacturer goes up, costs get transferred to items already in stock. Not all businesses do this, but I know of many that do... perhaps this is how that person has chosen to do business? Not how I would do biz... but it's a choice.

wow, that really sucks. i never really liked the staff too much at CC, but i never really had a bad experience. their selection was pretty nice but it's good to know that they jack their prices extremely high and dont match prices.

I agree with LauraCline. RC is a good emergency tool.

i would consider contacting reeflo about this and see if they can pressure the store to refund some of your money. as a manufacture you dont want your produce being sold like this bending people over. its said in todays economy that a store would screw someone this bad

Please let me know of the ones that do this so I don't support them. As a business "runner" myself, I couldn't sleep at night doing something like that.

+ 100000

You paid the price for what ever reason was justified to you. I don't go around saying that 7-11 "robbed" me because I paid $1.39 for a can of green tea that I get at walmart for $.79.

Most for the fish you buy at you LFS have been marked up 1000% by the time you pay for them, is that "robbery"? Then everyone on this site has been "robbed" according to your theory.

Coral Corral is a place I like to frequent to buy frags and they have the best local selection of CORAL at any one time. Most people order hardware online where prices are competitive.

Sorry your out $160.

I've been telling you people since Pierre opened that place not to go in there. I would quit reefing before speinding a single penny there. I have never and will never walk through the door to that place.

Markup is one thing...in case you missed it during the reading...there were 2 price tags on the box.

Sorry you will be out more $$$ in the future.

did you even call Pierre to tell him you had actually gotten the old style pump? not the newer one with the updated motor?

have you considered that the pricing tag had been accidentally added to the old pump, not realizing that it was the old style?

Nope, I re-read it three times and still don't see where the OP said that there was 2 price tags on the box.

deaterk is a close person to me. We have been discussing this the whole time.

He called Pierre and was told to basically pound sand. AKA tough doody.

Read post #2...mine. deaterk left out some stuff. But has the physical proof.....seen it.

I can understand raising the price because of the new motor/pump. But this is not what happened. Price was raised on the old pump that was purchased by the vendor at the old price.

I agree that the price is extremely high and I would not do business like that myself, but that being said, you bought it so you can't blame him. I have always greatly appreciated the sheer amount of LIVE inventory that CC has..it is just incredible. I have not purchased dry goods because of the price, but I would still go there in a heartbeat for corals. just my opinion on the situation.
