Life expectancy

can someone tell me how long they live? I am thinking about getting one but i would like to get an idea of thier liffe expectacy.

Depends on species. Bimacs usually live around 1.5 years, but they are almost all WC so, they live shorter in our tanks, because they are already a few months old when caught.

There has been some recent discussion on whether cooler water helps to extend the life in some species. Apparently there is/was an octopus at Dana Point that has lived in excess of two years.

Perhaps a chiller will be the new pre-requisite to keeping an octopus.
