LifeReef Calcium Reactor

You have fully opened the tank's valve, have the low pressure gauge set to around 6 psi and have opened the little needle valve to start the flow of co2?
I know... but had to ask.

So, I did the following:

1. opened the c02 all the way
2. plugged in the solenoid to a wall outlet, not my apex; its clicks on
3. I set the low pressure to 6 by adjusting the screw on the face of the reg
4. i open the needle valve at the bottom on the reg

i put the hose in a cup of water and i got about 7 bubbles in 1 min.

Did I do anything wrong?

Does anyone know if you can buy just the electronic control box to work with your existing solenoid from Aquarium Plants? Their website seems to indicate that you can purchase additional boxes but I'm not clear if they can be added to an existing solenoid setup. I have Milwaukee solenoid.

I have it opened all the way. Meaning, it's all the way down to where it won't open anymore.
Yeah, than something is wrong.

You can buy just the box to use with your regulator, but i think the box replaces your solenoid.

I am giving up on the regulator/needle valve that came with the system. For starters, it leaks. I have gone through two tanks in two weeks. I tried everything to find the leak. Spraying soapy water, re seating the seal on the tank/regulator, resealing fittings to no avail. In addition to that, I have the same problems that Dennis had. I get it set perfect and 5 hours later it has either stopped or has increased the count. You cant even look at it without it changing. I just ordered the electronic one from AP. I will update the thread when it arrives. If you are looking at a CA reactor, save yourself some money and headaches and get the regulator from AP.

You are going to LOVE that AP reg.

I hope I can live w the needle valve for a little, till I have money for an AP reg. Vacation to FL is not cheap.

The little locking ring on the needle valve helps tighten up so you can make finer adjustments and hold it there.

That's about all i got. LOL :D
For my tank I found that I needed to have an effluent flow around 60 ml/min and a ph around 6.35, so how ever many BPM to get down to that. Then if I saw any slight tank alk movement from there, i could make very slight changes to the effluent flow to tweak it.

Is it normal function to have the solenoid click on for a min and then off for 5-10? I'm keeping my ph at 6.55. My alk and ca has been holding steady; 9.4 and 410.
