Lifespan of Fish? Do I need to add fish to my will or trust?

Not a serious question, surely? Although, maybe I ought to make long term provisions for my ant farm.

Well maybe I can request my ashes be scattered in tropical seas. I can specify the fish from my tank can get acclimated for at least an hour [one last time] and get thrown overboard with me. Then I'll be free of feeding my fish but instead will be fish food [one last time]. And they'll finally be free too. LOL.

I personally wouldn't agree with 1 ppd. Many passionate reefers just don't post that much.
Too busy looking for bristle worms ?...and having to ID yet another strange object in the tank from the fuzziest 2 megapixel 2005 digital camera?...only to end up seeing its a sponge and ...YES they come in different colors but RARELY are square like whats in the kitchen or Bob the Krusty Krab fry-cook.. lol.

Why would you say that? People make provisions for all kinds of stuff - furniture, photo collections, dogs, cats, bonsai trees...you name it. Why let a lifetime of work to down the drain?

Somebody has to deal with it if you leave this life with an up & running tank. Why not save your loved ones and/or executors the hassle and potentially save some innocent animals at the same time? A valuable collection could add some cash for your estate too in some cases.

But yea, just toss the ant farm.

However silly this subject of what happens to my tank and its inhabinants in my care [may be to some]...I don't want them to all die a slow death by ammonia and nitrite poisoning because I exit before them. Especially when they may have lifespans of 20 more years with a person who has expertise and desire to care for them.

That said I know it sounds ridiculous because I may screw up and harm them myself one by one or in one stupid catastrophic move. In college I lost my whole saltwater tank because a pipe broke in the apt and the electric to the building was cut off. I think its worth being optimistic and providing some plan for what the executor should do about the tank and how impirtant it is to bring in a service in the short term.
