diatoms looks like.... what are your parameters? how long has your tank been cycled? are you using new bulbs? and finally what do you have for a clean up crew?

I have the same issue. I just bought new bulbs. T5 22k actinic and white. My parameters are salinity: 1.023, pH 8.2, Nitrates 60ppm everything else is 0 temp is at like 80-82

all my levels are good but ive been using questionable water. I did do 15 gallon water change with some ro/di from my friend and it seems to be going away. oh and tank has been running for about 8 months now.

anybody? Bueller?.....Bueller?

With 60 nitrates, assume your tank is new. Diatoms are very common in new tanks. Their main food source is silcate and as it is exhausted the diatoms go with it. Not much you can do until that happens except use good quality water and keep your water in check.

so just sit back and wait....I can do that. I have been doing water changes every 2 weeks or so and have a good skimmer in there so hopefully it all works itself out. THX

Diatoms or dinos? Not sure anything eats dinos but florida fighting conchs and tigertail sea cucumbers will help cleanup diatoms IME. Silicate removal is the best defense with diatoms though.
